Message from the Leadership
Dear Partners and Stakeholders,
The year 2024 was a defining moment for Africa Youth
Trust (AYT) and the young people we serve. It was a
year of resilience, innovation and growth in the face
of complex challenges. Economic instability, youth-led
protests, and the persistent threat of gender-based
violence (GBV) tested the resolve of our communities.
Yet, in these trials, Africa’s youth stood tall, proving to
be the driving force behind progress.
As a Board, our priority has been to provide strategic
direction and ensure that AYT remains agile and
responsive to the evolving needs of young people. We
take immense pride in the organization’s success in
empowering youth through initiatives such as the
Shared Futures Project, which created economic
opportunities for hundreds of young people, and our
policy engagements that gave youth a seat at decision
making tables across the East African region.
Our partnerships with trusted allies like ActionAid
Kenya, Global Fund for Women, and Cordaid have
amplified our impact, reminding us that collective
action is key to sustainable development. The future
demands bold leadership and innovative solutions,
qualities we believe are abundant in the young people
we work alongside. We see boundless potential in
Africa’s youth and we will continue to champion their
voices, equip them with the tools they need and foster
partnerships that unlock their potential.
To our donors, partners and the youth who inspire us
every day, thank you for your unwavering support.
Together, we are shaping a future driven by equity,
justice and opportunity.

Dear Friends and Partners,
Reflecting on the journey through 2024, I am filled with
both pride and humility. It was a year that tested our
resilience but also illuminated the strength and
potential of young people across Africa. We faced
economic uncertainties, climate shocks and the
continued challenge of gender-based violence, but at
every turn, the young people we serve demonstrated
courage and creativity.
Africa Youth Trust (AYT) remained steadfast in its
mission to empower youth and promote gender
equality. Our Shared Futures Project equipped youth
with skills to build sustainable livelihoods. The Access
to Justice and Security Program ensured survivors of
GBV found safety and support through our 21094 SMS
platform. We stood alongside young women
advocating for transparency and anti-corruption
reforms. We amplified youth voices on national and
regional platforms, influencing policies such as the
East African Community Youth Policy. These
achievements were possible because of the dedication
of our team and the support of our partners.
Collaboration has been the cornerstone of our success.
As we plan for 2025, we aim to scale up our programs,
deepen our partnerships and embrace innovation to
the full potential of Africa’s youth.
To our donors, partners and every young person who
has walked this journey with us thank you. Your
support fuels our vision for an Africa where youth lead
and thrive.
