Executive Summary

In 2024, AYT navigated complex challenges, including economic
pressures, youth protests, and climate-related disruptions. However,
we are proud to share that we made remarkable strides across our
four pillars: Youth and Good Governance, Livelihood Resilience,
Gender Equality, and Climate-Smart Agriculture. We expanded our
geographic reach by establishing a new office in Mombasa, to
enhance our engagement with coastal communities.

Some of our key highlights of the year include the Shared Futures
Project, which equipped youth with employability and entrepren-
eurship skills, enabling them to launch sustainable businesses in
poultry farming, beekeeping and vegetable farming. Our Access
to Justice and Security Program has also made a profound impact.

We have been able to help individuals reclaim their dignity and
promote healing by providing crucial legal, medical and psycho-
social support to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) through
       our 21094 SMS platform.
On the governance front, AYT was a beacon of progress nationally
and regionally. We played a vital role in redrafting the East African
Community (EAC) Youth Policy ensuring it addresses the evolving
       needs of young people.
Our participation in the Pan-African Parliament’s Youth Caucus has
amplified youth voices in critical continental policy discussions.
Additionally, we have advocated for youth representation in the
Constitution Amendment Bill 2024 and the Finance Bill 2024,
ensuring that young people's perspectives are integral to shaping
       governance reforms.

Our Young Urban Women Movement Program empowered young
women in Nairobi and Mombasa with leadership skills, economic
knowledge and advocacy tools to champion gender-responsive
policies. Through capacity-building workshops and public partici-
pation forums, these young women gained the confidence to
challenge societal norms and demand equitable access to
       resources and opportunities.

Despite facing financial constraints and socio-economic challenges,
we demonstrated tremendous resilience. Our strategic partnerships
with organizations like ActionAid Kenya, Global Fund for Women, and
Cordaid have significantly broadened our reach and enhanced the
       effectiveness of our initiatives.

As we look forward to 2025, we are excited to expand our programs,
deepen partnerships, and adopt innovative approaches to empower
youth and promote sustainable development. We are particularly
focused on scaling up Climate-Smart Agriculture initiatives,
enhancing digital engagement, and driving policy reforms that
guarantee inclusivity, equity and resilience for Africa’s youth.
