Climate Smart Agriculture
This pillar focuses on the innovative approach to farming that seeks to address the challenges posed by climate change while promoting sustainable and resilient agricultural practices. It encompasses a range of strategies and techniques that enable farmers to adapt to changing climatic conditions, mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, and ensure food security and productivity in a changing climate.
Current Active Project

Climate-smart agriculture focuses on increasing productivity, building resilience, and promoting sustainability. It addresses climate change challenges by improving resource efficiency, reducing emissions, and adapting farming practices to ensure food security and environmental protection.
Our Climate Smart Agriculture pillar focuses on promoting sustainable and resilient farming practices in response to climate change. We integrate climate science, technology, and traditional knowledge to optimize agricultural production while minimizing environmental impact. By using climate-resilient crop varieties, efficient water management, soil conservation techniques, and precision agriculture, farmers can enhance productivity and adapt to climate-related risks such as droughts and floods.

In addition, we advocate for sustainable resource management including agroforestry, organic farming, and integrated pest management. These practices minimize chemical use, protect biodiversity, and improve soil health, ensuring the long-term sustainability of agricultural systems. We also prioritize knowledge sharing, capacity building, and farmer-to- farmer learning to empower farmers with the necessary skills and information to implement climate- smart practices effectively.

Our goal is to create resilient and productive agricultural systems that contribute to food security, poverty reduction, and community well-being in the face of climate change. By embracing Climate Smart Agriculture, we can adapt to climate challenges, mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, and foster sustainable development for a brighter future.

Civic Engagement Alliance
AYT, in collaboration with ICCO Cooperation and Edukans, implemented a 5-year project (2016-2020) in Kenya called Civic Engagement Alliance. The project was funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The main objective of Civic Engagement Alliance was to enhance the capacity of Civil Society in addressing inequality and injustice, creating favorable conditions for just, economic, social, and political development, particularly for vulnerable groups such as Women, Youth, and people with Disabilities. Additionally, the project aimed to empower young people to adopt climate-smart approaches to agriculture and proactive conservation, thereby improving their livelihoods.
