Africa Youth Trust secretariat executes programmes/projects and ensures the day to day running of the organization. The secretariat is made up of professional young people employed on equal opportunity basis.

Jessica Njui
Deputy Executive Director

Jessica Njui has vast experience in policy analysis and advocacy with a keen interest on gender and equality. She coordinates the East African Women Peace and Security Network and has been at the forefront of various processes championing for gender equality at both the national and regional level. Jessica is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts degree in Gender and Development at University of Nairobi and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.

David Momanyi
Training Officer

David is a Youth Development and organization/ Program Management expert. He is also the Nairobi City County Youth Advisor on matters affecting the youth, and he is also involved in developing a legal framework and permanent structures within the county government to manage and promote youth friendly policies and programmes in the county. He has been part of team that worked with the Nairobi City County Government through the Department of Social Services and Housing in drafting the City wide Youth Policy and Chaired a City Wide Youth Caucus Committee. He is also a Founder Member of One Stop Youth Information Resource Centre an Initiative currently under management of Nairobi County Government through Department Education, Youth Affairs, and Children &Social Services

David’s work and life reflect his commitment to making a positive impact to young people and the Kenyan society at large; he has been certified by Cornel University and the University of British Columbia Vancouver, Canada for his distinguished services in community work in the role he played in UNESCO Growing Up in Cities action research Program in Kenya, a project currently hosted at the Colorado University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Community Development Degree from St Paul’s University.

Christine N. Gachuma
Programme Assistant

Christine works in the Gender Department where she supports implementation of projects with a focus on improving the Safety and Security of Women and Girls in Informal Settlements in Nairobi. She is also involved in projects that address both local and regional Women, Peace and Security matters.

Christine holds a Diploma in Social Work and a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies both from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

Kayila James
Finance Officer

Kayila is a trained accountant with over 5 years’ experience in the NGO world. Currently he is the Africa Youth Trust Finance Manager, a position he has held since 2012. Before joining Africa Youth Trust, he was the chief accountant of Coast Care Kenya, an NGO based in Mombasa, Kenya.

He is a team player and is self-driven. Kayila has strong experience in Grants management and donor financial reporting coupled with grants budgeting & Stock control. He has a degree in Bachelor of Arts (Econ Hons) and is a member of the Indian institute of professional studies.

Carolyne Musembi
Human Resource & Administration Officer

Carolyne holds a diploma in Business Administration. She has a diverse experience in the administration field and is currently the officer in charge of Human Resource and Administration with Africa Youth Trust, a position she has held for 2 years.

Victor Ruto
Governance Programmes Intern

Victor holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations (Development studies) from the United States International University- Africa. He is passionate about humanitarian issues and a fervent advocate of conscious efforts towards gender equality and security through community development/ empowerment.
